The day was first observed in 2001 by UFO researcher Haktan Akdogan. On the day, people gather together to watch the skies looking for extraterrestrial objects.

How it is celebrated: The World UFO Day Organisation(WUFODO) celebrates this day by creating an awareness that humans are not the only beings in the Universe. They promote various ways of celebration by asking people to look up to the stars looking for UFOs.The idea behind doing this is to get people to know about UFOS.
