The Election is over, a new strain of Covid has been identified, the government is increasing the restrictions. We seem to be reading these as headlines these days. But when the active cases in Kerala has hit an approx. of 39,774, Minister Moideen has decided to make “Thrissur mela”, colourful again.
Thrissur mela celebrations is to begin on APRIL 24TH at Thrissur district of Kerala amidst the rising cases of covid19 pandemic. While the new strain of novel coronavirus has been detected, and the government has tightened the rules and constraints for the safety of the citizens. The inauguration was done under the presence of Minister Moideen, who said that they are beginning to live along with the global pandemic and this would be a “celebration of resistance” towards the corona Virus. He also added that all the rituals and arrangements of the Covid prevention measures, are going to be followed. “The Government is with Thrissur”, he added.
Confirmed cases in Kerala : 11,60,205

The statistics sure gives a scary figure and yet people are not understanding the seriousness of the situation.
On the 6th of April, While Kerala held the assembly election, the election commission remarked that the election was not conducted as per the prevention measures. Those were election duty were asked to wear gloves and to ensure maintaining social distance. However, these were not followed.
The total number pf deaths due to covid 19 since 2020 is 237,133
Yet the government and the country are taking it lightly. The experiences of the covid patients are shared on social media multiple times and the experts have educated us of the dangers of corona Virus but the public still do not care about its consequences.
Though schools and colleges are not fully functioning, and school organizations are continuing to use online platforms for teaching, we tend to see most students, specifically teenagers hanging out in groups, participating in rallies, while not maintaining social distancing or wearing their masks properly. They take their online classes lightly, using malpractices to clear their exams online.
The Government’s Hypocrisy must stop. They should begin to take proper steps to control the cases of covid that has been growing daily. They must either ensure complete safety of the citizens or be clear on their lack of knowledge that has manipulated them to take the pandemic lightly.
Educating the citizens are also the duty of the government, which they seem to fail performing.
