The counterintelligence and economic espionage efforts emanating from the government of China and the Chinese Communist Party are a grave threat to the economic well being and
democratic values of the Indian Union. At the same time, the Chinese government seeking to become the world’s greatest superpower through predatory lending and business practices, systematic theft of intellectual property, and brazen cyber intrusions.
Now, if we take a closer look into the Sino-Indian bilateral relations we can see that there was a time of peace, harmony and brotherhood between the two nations, a time when “hindi cheen
bhai bhai” actually meant something. But as the aspirations and policies of the 2 nations changed over time the moral and bilateral distance between the 2 nations grew wider. The
beginning of the 1960s witnessed a handful of major events in the international and diplomatic
arena. As the cold war and Cuban crisis shook the western front, the east witnessed a fullfledged
military conflict between India and China. Many say that it was because India under
the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru gave refuge to Dalai Lama who is also the spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhists. But clearly evident that China with huge ambitions and conquering mentality saw Tibet as an integral part of their country and didn’t want anyone to question their predatorial actions over territorial integrity and internal affairs.
All these events happened way back in the 60s! After the economic reforms introduced in China
in 1978 under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, the Chinese grew larger and stronger in all the spheres. Today China is the 2nd largest economy after the United States and 3rd largest military
power after US and Russia. China’s prosperity is really derived from the globalization of Chinese economy, by being a very open economy by borrowing capital, technology, knowledge
from many other centers of excellence and then utilizing it in the most effective way possible in order what it is today. So, it is not that particular historical status that China claims is legitimate, the legitimacy should be sought from history. But the history is not what China says it is.
China may be using the rhetoric of multipolarity but in reality, it doesn’t believe in multipolarity: what it believes is in a very hierarchical sense of power and in this hierarchical sense it sees itself certainly at almost at the top.
Today India is one of the most powerful and influential rivals of China, therefore they try their level best to undermine and dismantle the Indian policies and initiatives in everyway possible. They show no regard to the Shimla agreement of 1914 and change the LAC according to their own interests. As a result, there are frequent military disputes and skirmishes in the Sino-Indian
border. It is high time China needs to accept the fact that common security is possible when countries respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity. Any coercive or unilateral action that
seeks to change the status quo by force is an affront to common security. The current economic state of Sri Lanka is a result of the debt trap diplomacy of China. It is evident that many more Asian countries who rely on China for financial aids are going to face the same fate of Sri Lanka. China then utilizes these countries for their military purposes and expanding their muscle power in the south Asian and Indian Ocean region.
China is not just a regional threat but a global capable of creating chaos in the order. They have
diplomatic and border skirmishes with countries like India, Japan, Taiwan and even Mongolia. They unleash unprecedented cyber attacks on the western nations. They meddle in the politics and internal affairs of the vulnerable countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan and show no regard for the territorial integrity of other nations. Now they are building the worlds largest dam on Tsang Po River in Tibet on the foothills of Himalayas. Sounds great right!? But in fact, it’s the biggest threat to India as the water from the dams flows directly into the region of Ladakh, in other words China is building a water bomb on top of our Country.
But our country always strives forward, breaking all the challenges and hurdles to create a better future for ourselves and to the world. Because we believe in
“loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu”.
Jai Hind!!!
